Assessment
How the Risk Score Works
We analyse this vehicle across six risk categories and assign points to each issue found. The higher the score, the more concerns exist. A score of 0–2 is low risk, 3–5 is moderate, and 6 or above is high risk. Each category is weighted by how seriously it affects vehicle safety and value.
Accident History
up to 3 ptsWhether the vehicle has a recorded collision, fire, flood, or theft incident.
Odometer Issues
up to 3 ptsWhether the mileage readings across records are consistent or show signs of tampering.
Contamination Risk
up to 2 ptsWhether the vehicle was operated in or near a radioactive contamination zone in Japan.
Open Recalls
up to 2 ptsWhether the manufacturer has issued a safety recall notice for this vehicle model.
Data Inconsistency
up to 2 ptsWhether the vehicle details match across registration, auction, and specification records.
Commercial Use
1 ptWhether the vehicle was previously used commercially (taxi, rental, fleet), which increases wear.
Multiple Red Flags — Exercise Extreme Caution

Safety Assessment
Conducted by Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT)
Overall Safety Grade
Measures how well the vehicle protects occupants in a crash, tested across frontal, offset, and side impact scenarios.
★★★★★★

Average for this class: 97.4%
Usage History
Records of how and where this vehicle was operated
Contamination Region
Whether the vehicle was registered or operated in areas affected by the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster (Fukushima, Miyagi, Ibaraki, Tochigi prefectures).
Radioactive Contamination Test
Japan's Harbor Transportation Association tests vehicles at ports for radioactive contamination before export. This began in July 2011 as a precautionary measure.
Commercial Usage
Vehicles used as taxis, rentals, or fleet cars accumulate significantly more wear than privately-owned vehicles of the same age and mileage.
Braking Performance
Distance required to stop from 100 km/h with a driver and front passenger on board

Glossary
Understanding the terms in this report
This report draws on Japanese export, registration and auction records, which use specialist terminology. cartrust translates the key terms below into plain language. Tap any term to expand its definition.
Identity & Title
Chassis Number
The unique identification number assigned to a vehicle in Japan — the equivalent of a VIN in the USA or Europe. cartrust uses it to pull every record tied to this exact car.
Title Status
“Registered” means the vehicle is qualified for driving in Japan. “Deregistered Temporarily” is a short-lived status during an ownership change. “Deregistered Completely” means it was determined to be scrapped. “Deregistered to Export” means it was cleared to leave Japan — the normal status for an imported car.
Classification & Specification Codes
Manufacturer codes that pin down the exact factory configuration of the vehicle — grade, body, drivetrain and equipment package — independent of how the seller describes it.
Condition & Fraud Checks
Accident / Repair
Whether a collision, fire, flood or theft incident has been reported against the vehicle. A clear result means no such problem has been recorded in the sources cartrust checks.
Odometer / Mileage Rollback
Each registration and inspection logs the odometer reading. cartrust compares them over time — if a later reading is lower than an earlier one, the mileage may have been wound back. A clear result means every reading is consistent.
Auction Grade
A condition score assigned by the Japanese auction house. Numeric grades run from roughly 3 (visible wear) up to 5 and “S” (like-new). Letter grades such as “R” / “RA” mark a repaired vehicle. Higher is better.
Inspection & Safety
Vehicle Inspection (Shaken)
Japan’s mandatory roadworthiness inspection. New cars are first tested after three years, then every two years thereafter. It confirms the vehicle is maintained, safe, and not illegally modified.
Safety Grade (JNCAP)
The Japan New Car Assessment Program rating from MLIT and NASVA. It combines full-wrap frontal, offset frontal and side-impact crash tests into a level from 1 to 5 — more stars means better occupant protection.
Collision Safety Evaluation
Crash-test scores for the driver and front-passenger seats, out of a 12-point scale. Up to 6 points is level 1; the remainder is split evenly across levels 2–5. The higher the score, the better the seat protects in a crash.
Braking Performance Test
Measures the distance a vehicle needs to stop from 100 km/h, with a driver and front passenger aboard, on both dry and wet roads. Shorter, more stable stops score higher. Distances have been GPS-measured since FY2009.
Contamination
Contaminated Regions
After the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, parts of the Fukushima, Miyagi, Ibaraki and Tochigi prefectures were contaminated. This flag indicates whether the vehicle was used in or near those areas.
Radioactive Contamination Test
Since July 2011, the Japan Harbor Transportation Association (JHTA) inspects vehicles for radioactive contamination at all Japanese sea ports before export. A pass confirms the vehicle cleared this check.
Sources & Abbreviations
MLIT
Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism — Japan’s government body that maintains the registration and inspection records behind much of this report.
Drive & Transmission
“4WD” / “2WD” describe which wheels the engine drives. “AT” means automatic transmission and “MT” means manual.
